UPPRPB Typing Test (English)
The UPPRPB has many tier in it's recruitment process depend upon the post. For the post of Sub Inspector Confidential ( SI - पुलिस उपनिरीक्षक गोपनीय ), Assistant Sub Inspector Clerk ( ASI - पुलिस सहायक उपनिरीक्षिक लिपिक ), Computer Operator UPPRPB conducts Typing Test (टंकण परीक्षा) after written exam. In the second phase of exam, candidates have to appear and qualify the typing test in English/Hindi or Both languages.
For UPPRPB ASI, SI, Computer Operator, typing test preparation, you can take test on exam like software. On the typing screen passage will appear on upper side of screen and you have to type in given text box. You can correct typed words at any time.
As you start typing, your timer will start. After completing typing test, it will show you detailed analysis of your typing skill, Mistakes and WPM Speed and accuracy as per formula prescribed by the UPPRPB.

UPPRPB Typing Test Evaluation
Typing Test Exam - In typing skill test you will given a passage for typing in 15 minutes time duration. Candidate have to copy (type) the given passage in a text box. UPPRPB Typing test is a qualifying test, so marks will not be awarded for typing test.
According to latest error evaluation rules, 85 Accuracy is required with desired WPM speed.
UPPRPB WPM and Accuracy Calculation Formula
Case 1 : If in the test of 15 minutes a candidate 'A' have typed total 490 Words in which he/she made 14 Full Mistakes and 5 Half Mistakes then the calculation will be like:
Total Words in Given Passage = 500
Total Words Typed by Candidate = 490
Full Mistakes = 14
Half Mistakes = 5
Total Errors = 14 + ( 5 * 0.5 ) = 16.5
Net Right Words = 490 - 16.5 = 473.5
Accuracy = (473.5 / 500) × 100 = 94.70 %
WPM Speed = 490 / 15 = 32.67 WPM
Verdict : Qualified
Case 2 : If in the test of 15 minutes a candidate 'B' have typed total 447 words in which he/she made 20 Full Mistakes and 6 Half Mistakes then the calculation will be like:
Total Words in Given Passage = 500
Total Words Typed by Candidate = 447
Full Mistakes = 20
Half Mistakes = 6
Total Errors = 20 + ( 6 * 0.5 ) = 23
Net Right words = 447 - 23 = 424
Accuracy = (424 / 500) × 100 = 84.80 %
WPM Speed = 447 / 15 = 29.80 WPM
Verdict : Not Qualified
Case 3 : If in the test of 15 minutes a candidate 'C' have typed total 500 words in which he/she made 60 Full Mistakes and 6 Half Mistakes then the calculation will be like:
Total Words in Given Passage = 500
Total Words Typed by Candidate = 500
Full Mistakes = 60
Half Mistakes = 6
Total Errors = 60 + ( 6 * 0.5 ) = 63
Net Right words = 500 - 63 = 437
Accuracy = (437 / 500) × 100 = 87.4 %
WPM Speed = 500 / 15 = 33.34 WPM
Verdict : Qualified
Calculation of Errors
Typing errors will be calculated as per below rules:
NATURE OF MISTAKES
A. Full Mistakes : The following errors are treated as full mistakes :-
i. For every omission of a word/figure.
ii. For every substitution of a wrong word/figure, except transposition of words.
iii. For every addition of a word/figure not found in the passage.
iv. For every spelling error committed by way of repetition, or addition, or omission, or substitution of a letter/letters, e.g. the word ‘spelling’ typed as seeplings; seplling; speling; seepling; spelling etc. v. For repetition of word/figure, e.g. ‘I shall shall be grateful ……….’
vi. Incomplete words (half typed words will be treated as mistake).
B. Half Mistakes : The following errors are treated as half mistakes :-
i. Spacing Errors : Where no space is provided between two words, e.g. ‘Ihope’, or undesired space is provided between the words or letters of a word e.g. ‘I have’, ‘I h ave’ (space left between a word).
ii. Wrong Capitalisation : Wrong typing of a capital letter for small letter or vice-versa. (This does not apply in respect of Hindi Typewriting scripts)
iii. Punctuation Errors : Where the punctuation mark is omitted or added or substituted by another.
iv. Transposition Errors : Where words are transposed, e.g. the words ‘I hope’ typed as ‘hope I’.
v. Paragraphic Errors : Half mistake shall be treated for each irrational para, where the space given before starting of any paragraph is not uniform, i.e paragraph given manual spaces; without pressing the Tab Key, will be treated half-mistake.
