SSC LDC, DEO, JSA, Tax Asst. Typing Test (English)

The SSC has many tier in it's recruitment process depend upon the post. For many of the positions such as Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Data Entry Operator (DEO), JSA and Tax Assistant SSC conducts Typing Skill Test in the second phase of exam, candidates have to appear and qualify the typing test. In the typing test you will be asked to type a passage (Printed on Paper or Shows on Screen) in computer system.  

For SSC Typing Speed Test 2025 preparation, you can take test on Exam like software. Here you have exam like environment, the qualifying criteria is different-different according to the position so here we have given option to select key-depression or words wise passage for practice. On the typing screen passage will appear on upper side of screen (can be hide and you can type from paper) and you have to type in given text box. You can correct typed words anytime. The test duration will be 10 or 15 minutes as per post. Here the highlighting and auto-scroll (you can disable it) is given for practice purpose the same will not available in SSC Typing Test.  

As you start typing your timer will start. After completing typing test, it will show you detailed analysis of your typing skill, Key Depression and WPM Speed as per formula prescribed by the SSC.

SSC Typing Test Evaluation

Typing Test Exam - In typing skill test you will given a passage of limited key depression for typing in fixed time duration. Candidate have to copy (type) the given passage (passage can be given on printed paper or displayed on screen) in a text box. If you have typed the whole passage before time and have spare time you can check and correct your typing errors. For SSC DEST test is qualifying test marks will not be awarded for typing test.

In the SSC typing test 5 key depression are count as a "Word".

For Example the sentence "We are learning typing."  As you can see here total 23 Key Depressions. To qualify SSC Typing Test you have to achieve a typing speed as per post you have applied. Here the required speed is different-different for different positions.

According to last year's error evaluation rules, a relaxation of 7% errors is applied for the UR Category, while 10% errors are relaxed for other categories.

Calculation of Errors

NATURE OF MISTAKES

A. Full Mistakes : The following errors are treated as full mistakes :-

i. For every omission of a word/figure.

ii. For every substitution of a wrong word/figure, except transposition of words.

iii. For every addition of a word/figure not found in the passage.

iv. For every spelling error committed by way of repetition, or addition, or omission, or substitution of a letter/letters, e.g. the word ‘spelling’ typed as seeplings; seplling; speling; seepling; spelling etc. v. For repetition of word/figure, e.g. ‘I shall shall be grateful ……….’

vi. Incomplete words (half typed words will be treated as mistake).

B. Half Mistakes : The following errors are treated as half mistakes :-

i. Spacing Errors : Where no space is provided between two words, e.g. ‘Ihope’, or undesired space is provided between the words or letters of a word e.g. ‘I have’, ‘I h ave’ (space left between a word).

ii. Wrong Capitalisation : Wrong typing of a capital letter for small letter or vice-versa. (This does not apply in respect of Hindi Typewriting scripts)

iii. Punctuation Errors : Where the punctuation mark is omitted or added or substituted by another.

iv. Transposition Errors : Where words are transposed, e.g. the words ‘I hope’ typed as ‘hope I’.

v. Paragraphic Errors : Half mistake shall be treated for each irrational para, where the space given before starting of any paragraph is not uniform, i.e paragraph given manual spaces; without pressing the Tab Key, will be treated half-mistake.
